Stopped in to Firebirds Wood fire Grill and I thought it was going to be a pizza place. I was totally wrong! It was restaurant week and I was in Mason, so I figured I try out a restaurant up north. This place did not disappoint!
They had a prefix lunch menu for $26. I for my first course, I chose the mixed greens salad. It was fresh and delicious. Had bacon on top and a light vinaigrette style dressing on it. For my second dish, I chose the Grilled Peruvian pesto salmon. It came with this amazing pesto sauce and was cooked perfectly. The char on the salmon was just right. The orzo salad was cold, and I expected it to be hot, but it was still pretty good. Not sure if this item is on their regular menu, but I hope it is, because it was SO good and I’d like to have it again when I go back!
My third course was creme brulee cheesecake squares. It was lunch time, and I’d already eaten plenty, but once I tasted this dish, I had to eat it, lol. Thankfully the portion was small. It was so rich and decadent. I’d never thought to marry creme brulee and cheesecake, but this made perfect sense! Overall an amazing meal and I’m glad I treated myself to a solo lunch. I was pleasantly surprised at how great this restaurant was, because I’ve driven by it many times and never noticed it. If you are on the fence about trying it, do it!!!!
