Mardi Gras on Madison Food review.
Now that I work in Walnut Hills, I’m trying to hit every single restaurant in the neighborhood up for lunch. I’ve eaten here before at a party with the Give Back NOLA team before a trip, but got to eating and forgot to document. The food is just that good. I ordered the shrimp po boy and it never disappoints. The shrimp was hot and fresh, and perfectly seasoned and breaded. I wanted to kiss the cook, but I took it to go. It came with Zapps chips, which are an amazing cajun kettle chip. I’m not usually a fan of potato chips, but these are an exception. I fell in love with these back in Nawlins about 10 years ago. Munching away on a habitat site a year after Katrina and eating them always takes me back to that amazing time! I digress. This sandwich is so amazing, its the only thing I ever order here. I vow to branch out and try something else next time. Its so good though, I can’t think of anything else when there’s a possibility of a shrimp po boy!
This place has a true New Orleans feel to it. They are never really in much of a hurry, they know the foods worth the wait and they keep odd hours. This is my third try at coming here for lunch in the better part of a week. I learned to follow them on twitter to get the 411. Either way, its the closest you’re going to get to the Nawlins experience in Cincinnati, so be patient and Laissez les bons temps rouler!
