Rasheedah’s Cafe food review.
Stopped in for lunch, I’d heard great things about this place. I loved the laid back atmosphere and the gentlemen inside was very welcoming. I ordered the jerk chicken, which was only available on Sunday with rice and broccoli. It came with cornbread, which I believe a good meal should come with bread, really. I sat there while my food was prepared, they had the game on. It didn’t take too long, and I was on my way. Once home I opened my bag to find all types of smells calling my name. I believe I asked for dark meat, and I was pleased at how tender and juicy the chicken was. Sometimes jerk chicken can be spicy, but this was a good blend of spice without a ton of heat and cooked perfectly. I had the option of covering my rice in butter or chicken broth, and I chose butter. I will ALWAYS choose butter, lol. It was cooked well and was seasoned and paired great with the chicken. The broccoli was a surprise as it was seasoned and buttery and could stand alone outside of the meal. A lot of time places just slap together the sides, but you could tell this was fresh broccoli cooked with love. My cornbread was good as well, a perfect compliment to a great meal. This is the type of Sunday dinner that I would make myself, and they are few and far between at restaurants. This is certainly a Cincinnati Gem, I can’t wait to try more of her dishes.
