My Dad stopped by to pick up something and he was more than happy to share in my breakfast for dinner. I piled the toast high and topped it with whipped cream and a few more walnuts. It was perfection!!!
French Toast with Spiced Pears
Ingredients:
butter
4 ripe medium pears, peeled, cut into thin wedges
1/2 teaspoon allspice powder
maple syrup
1 tablespoon honey
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
French toast:
3 eggs
1/2 cup milk
2 (1-inch thick) slices of texas toast
Took pears that I had in fridge, and sautéed them with butter, allspice, maple syrup, water, honey and walnuts. While that simmered about 5 minutes, I made my Granny’s french toast.
To make French toast, melt 1 tablespoon butter in large nonstick skillet. Beat egg in shallow bowl. Add milk and stir. Dip bread slices in egg batter, coating both sides. Arrange bread in skillet. Cook over low heat until golden brown on both sides. Cooking slow creates that nice crunch on the outside and preserves the soft inside.
Serve French toast topped with spiced pears.
