Southern Fried Cabbage Recipe
One of my fav easy side dishes. Cabbage keeps a long time in the oven and its always available and not expensive. Simple and delicious
- ½ a cabbage, sliced
- 4 slices of bacon, diced
- seasoning salt
- onion powder
- 1/4 cup water
- Fry the bacon until crispy. Remove from pan.
- Placed the sliced cabbage in the pan w/ the bacon drippings and season liberally with seasoning salt, onion powder and pepper (you can also use half of a chopped onion in the place of onion powder. Cook the onion until translucent before adding cabbage).
- Fry the cabbage until softened, about 8 minutes.
- Add water, and put bacon back in the pan, cover and simmer until reduced by half in volume about 15 minutes.
